An element of crime and crime rankings
It seems Detroit has the largest element of crime in the nation with good old St. Louis, last years crime leader, coming in one point behind.
What I found the funniest was all the complaining about the report. “The 14th annual “City Crime Rankings: Crime in Metropolitan America” was published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc. It is based on the FBI’s Sept. 24 crime statistics report.”
Some idiot said it made the highest crime cities look bad so it shouldn’t be published. Lol, another of those who wants to massage the raw facts before we get to see them. Another idiot says it takes crime out of context. Uh, what context is there for crime?
When you count murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglary and auto theft what context is left. Murder is murder and rape is rape. Besides which, a city had to rank high for all of them to make the top ten.
If you rank high for all of them what conclusion is left but that it’s a dangerous place to live. I don’t care what context you put it in, ranking high is bad, period.
One old fool even said the report shouldn’t be released because of the harm it causes to the cities. I’ve got a better idea. Let the cities clean up the crime so they aren’t at the top of the report.
Cleaning up crime woud certainly help their image a lot more than suppressing the report would. And what about the people who are hurt in those cities? Should they just be forgotten.
Ah, what the hell, let’s just not collect crime statistics. Then we can officially say we are crime free. See, a solution for every problem.
