Politics and the economy got you depressed

November 3rd, 2008 by Old Dude Misc

The nastiness of the politics of this election and the economy can cause a major depression if you let it stress you out to much. If you think you are even close to depressed you should check out these signs of major depression.

If you’re tired of watching all the mud slinging and dirty politics at least that stress will be gone tomorrow. Only one more day to the election. I’m tired of watching supposedly adult men and women act like two year olds. That’s depressing all by itself. Just thinking about having a president who has temper tantrums, lies for their own personal power gains and distorts the truth to gain power is not someone we need as president.

It’s depressing to think the two choices we have both act like little kids rather than adults. Name calling, lies and innuendo should not be part of picking a leader for our great country. I don’t see anyone who exhibits those tendencies as being capable to lead us to a better place. That’s depressing.

Then there’s the economy. That’s even more depressing than the people we have lying to us about what they are going to do and lying about the other candidate. Personally I’m not going to vote for Obama or McCain.

The economy is now the biggest problem we face and it’s another very depressing area. We all feel like it’s out of our control, and it is, but it still causes stress. The only non depressing thing and the thing that caused some stress relief is the fact that the bad world economy caused gas proces to go down. That’s relieves a bit of stress but not knowing iof you’re going to have a job to go to causes more stress.

Some of you may have heard your grandparents talk about putting money under the mattress and not in banks. You may have thought they were crazy but you should now understand why they wanted to have cash on hand. Banks failm get locked down or whatever. Having cash handy means you have it, you control it and no one can keep you from getting it.

If you want to be les stressed put money away. Don’t spen it on things you don’t need. Don’t spend 200 bucks a week eating out when you could eat at home for 50 bucks. Put cash away until you have enough to live on for 6 months. Then you can start buying stuff but you should also still be putting money away.

MOF, it’s actually a good time to invest in real estate and if you have any spare cash and can get the right deals I’d recommend it. Housing will go back up, in time. The population is growing and that’s not going to stop just because we have a downturn. Those people have to have places to live so the real estate market has to go up eventually.

The point is, no matter how bad things look now, they will get better in the future. I expect we have about two years before things get straightened out again and we all start feeling a lot less stressed and depressed. Check that depression link out I gave you and don’t let yourself slide into a serious depression because of the economy. It’s not worth it and slipping into a major depression will just make it worse.
