The cost of eating out vs the cost of eating at home.

October 8th, 2008 by Old Dude Misc

I suspect the price of gas, oil and electricity, plus the rising cost of eating out, has a lot more eating at home, and, as the economy continues to get worse I suspect a lot more will be eating at home. For some of them it means this will be the first time in their lives they’ve actually cooked for themselves.

I find that really fascinating but in an odd way. Odd in the fact that the under 30’s would rather go broke eating out than learning some of the basics of cooking so they can cook at home. College kids microwave everything, but, even microwaveable, if it’s any quality food, still doesn’t taste as well as semi homemade. Home made is also healthier and tastier than fast food.

Trouble is they have no taste for food as they were raised on McDonald’s and Burger King. Actually cooking your own food was a horrible thought to them. Lol, probably still is. Next generation, cooking may be a dead art.

So, me, feeling sorry for the kids that don’t know how to cook, thought I’d write out a few of my favorite and easy ground beef recipes for them. If you’re new to cooking check out the easy ground beef recipes links for some of the easiest and best tasting recipes you’ll find. Some remind me of my grandmothers cooking but far easier.

Heh, that will be to supplement their smaller than expected, social security checks. Oh yeah, and speaking of social security, doesn’t the current financial crisis, caused by the govt, really make ya wonder about the wisdom of the forced investment of your own funds which the current Republican administration, favors. BTW, no matter what the govt says, it will tax those funds, eventually. Whatever.

Yes, I know there’s a bad joke in the title. Sheesh, get your minds out of the gutter. However if it’s clean enough I might let some of the better comments get posted. ;)

Anyway, check out the ground beef recipes. If you are an experienced cook you may find a recipe or two you don’t have but this easy ground beef website is more geared for those who are just learning to cook at home.
