The Supreme Court and child rape

The Supreme Court decided that executing child rapists was cruel and unusual punishment. From my perspective that’s not how it should be but otoh it is the law and it needs to be respected and upheld.

The problem with loosening restrictions on laws in this country is we then end up with an enforceable mess. Laws, like the RICO law, are passed to  make something illegal. When the RICO law was passed it had great potential for abuse but the Govt. said “No, we just want to use it to put Mafia dudes in jail”

Yeah, right. It’s been so over abused I’m surprised someone hasn’t taken it to the Supreme court. What a law is intended for and what it’s used for by law enforcement are two different things.

Same with executions. Lol, this is ironic, it’s the same people trying to stop abortions, as murder, that want to kill people for raping children. If they had their way people performing abortions would also be sentenced to death. How can you be for saving some from being aborted as it’s considered murder and in the next breath condone killing someone for an act they committed. Doesn’t God’s law apply to both cases?

How can we say it’s okay to torture people at Gitmo and them complain when our own people get tortured? How can we have the right of privacy yet the Govt intercepts our calls and emails, at will, without proper court authority?

All I can tell ya is that if someone rapes my child or my grandchild the son of a bitch is going to die. How that’s accomplished will get me arrested but I’m not going to wait around for the state to do it for me. Besides, you can’t trust the state or feds to do the right thing.

We may be a nation of laws but it’s our choice, as individuals, which ones we obey and which ones we don’t. Me, I’ll do what I need to do and take my chances in front of a jury. If they wan’t to kill me or punish me for killing someone who raped my child, so be it. I can deal with that.

What I can’t deal with is the govt slowly but surely eroding away the freedoms we are guaranteed by the constitution. Freedom from cruel and unusal punishment is one of them and it needs to be as sancrosanct as every other law we have guaranteeing our freedom.

What ya gonna do when someone decides speeders should get the death penalty? If you think that’s far fetched you’d better go do some reading on what our own govt does and how badly it breaks it’s own laws.

If you let a little thing get a foothold the next thing you know it’s being applied to you or to me for something that wasn’t very wrong.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -

because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -

because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -

because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

So when are you going to speak up for the things that ae wrong or are you too, going to wait until there is no one left to speak for you when it’s your turn?
