Hillary gives up, Obama wins
Hillary give up and Obama wins. That’s been the expected result for some time. What’s going to happen next is going to be even more interesting.
When Barack decided to run I stated that now we were going to find out who the people of this country would trust the most, A black man or a white woman. We now have the answer to that question. I guess it’s sort of proof that we’ve come a long way but on the other hand it’s also proof how much farther women still have to go.
Now in the November election we are going to find out how far we have really come. Will we elect a black man or a white man to the presidency. The last poll I saw showed McCain over Obama by 50% to 34% with 16% undecided.
The political pundits keep saying that it’s the undecideds who have decided every election. However if Barack wins all of the undecideds, and that’s not likely, he will be tied with McCain. That’s not good enough because the Republicans have proven they know how to steal a tied election.
So what’s Obama to do? He can choose Hillary as Vice President and probably win but then his presidency is likely to suffer because Hillary isn’t likely to willingly accept a background role. Then there’s the Bill problem. Bill Clinton that is.
What to do with Bill is even a bigger problem. First off he’s an ex President and has a lot of clout. He also says what he thinks and a few times he hurt Hillarys campaign with his words. Bill is not going to change and with his wife as VP it’s going to be a problem.
Perhaps giving Bill a job might be a good idea. People seemed to like him when he was President so giving him Condoleeza Rice’s job might be a good idea. It uses his experience to best advantage. However it puts him in the spotlight and he will overshadow Obama.
Nor is Bill Clinton going to go away and shut up. It’s just not in him to do that anymore than it’s in me to do that. Hillary is going to be a problem whether she is VP or not. She may support Obama but she’s still going to be planning her run for the presidency again in 4 years and acting according to what’s in her best interest and not what’s in Obamas best interests.
I’m quite glad we’ve come far enough to choose a black man to run for president. With the choice being a young black man or an old white man I do believe the old white man will win and we’ll have 4 more years of the same crap we have now.
There are some major differences between Bush and McCain but they are still both Republicans so the basic direction won’t change. McCain’s biggest problem is his age but Reagan proved age doesn’t much matter and he does come from a long lived family. Tough to say he’s to old when his mother is campaigning with him and she’s in her 90’s.
It’s a problem no matter how you look at it. Barack chooses Hillary as VP and ends up with a dysfunctional presidency or chooses someone else and loses to McCain and Hillary wins in 2012. However it doesn’t really matter, the problems this country now faces are so huge that both parties are going to have to cooperate to solve them.
The odds of that happening aren’t very good.
